As part of the ‘Peace Begins With Me’ project which is designed towards ensuring that the message of peaceful coexistence and development reached 1,000 beneficiaries across the nook and cranny of the country, members of Nigeria Youth4Peace Initiative (NY4PI) conducted a-two day peace education outreach to two selected secondary schools within the Ibadan metropolis. The activities which took place at both Waterforth College and Ikolaba High School were held on the 17th and 18th May, 2018 at the school premises.

The sensitization programme which was facilitated by the Oyo State Chapter of the network had facilitators enlightened students on the principles of conflict management, sustainable development goals and civic responsibilities in the society.

Mr Rafiu Lawal, the National Coordinator of the network, sensitized the students on the nitty-gritty of conflict management, expatiating on the types of conflicts and how to resolve them in surefire ways. He enlightened the students on the necessity for conflict resolution and why peace is key in the society. Mr. Lawal, however, stated that conflict is inevitable but resolving them before they escalate is important and among the ways to move the society forward.
